Maynilad assures faster application process

MANILA, Philippines — Residents in Quezon City applying for new water service connections with west zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. are now assured of faster processing and approval.

 The Pangilinan-led water firm recently inked a memorandum of understanding with the Quezon City local government to streamline the processing of applications for new water service connections.

This means the processing of the required excavation permits as well as restoration works will be trimmed from the current processing time of  21 days to only 10 days. 

Maynilad said this would entail less visits to the city hall.

This is also in line with  Quezon City’s efforts to promote ease of doing business among its constituents.

“As a water service company, we always strive to look for ways to enhance customer experience, and this partnership with the local government of Quezon City is a huge step toward that goal,” said Maynilad chief operating officer Randolph Estrellado.

“It is our hope that we will be able to forge similar partnerships with the other cities and municipalities within our concession area,” he added.

Maynilad continues to increase its service connections to over five million since its re-privatization 11 years ago.

Last year, it has expanded its water service connections to 1.38 million after connecting 753,206 service accounts or over 5.2 million customers since it took over the west concession in 2007.

With its increased service connections, Maynilad now provides potable water to more than 9.5 million people, 55 percent  higher than the 6.1 million customers it served 11 years ago.

Around 98 percent of Maynilad customers have 24-hour water supply, up from only 32 percent who enjoyed the same service level in 2006.

Maynilad is pouring in P100 billion over the next five years to accelerate the improvement and expansion of its water infrastructure projects to enhance supply and pressure.

This year alone, Maynilad is allocating P17 billion, higher than the P10 billion it spent in 2018.

Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the country in terms of customer base, serving about 9.5 million people. It serves the areas of Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas, Malabon, and certain portions of Manila, Quezon City, Makati and Cavite.

It is owned and managed by Maynilad Water Holdings Co. Inc. a joint venture between Metro Pacific Investments Corp., DMCI Holdings and Marubeni Corp.
