Emperador earns 8% more in 2018

MANILA, Philippines — Emperador, the Andrew Tan-owned brandy company, reported a net profit of P6.8 billion last year, up eight percent. 

The company registered revenues of P47 billion, an increase of 10 percent, Emperador Inc. president Winston Co said yesterday. 

“Our renowned brandy and whisky products sold all over the world are the catalysts for continued growth and long-term shareholder value enhancement. Internationalization and premiumization will be the new frontier of growth moving forward,” Co said.

Emperador owns the brands Emperador Brandy, Fundador Brandy, and single malt Scotch whisky Dalmore. 

Co said the past year was exceptional for Whyte and Mackay with the business growing in every region of the world.

He said Asia was a particularly strong market with revenues more than doubling as brands enjoyed fantastic success across a number of markets.

He said Dalmore continued to attract new consumers at the apex of the single malt category.

For foreign brandy brands, the company rceived awards and brand recognitions in international competitions. 

For the local brandies, Co said  the Emperador brand performed well. 

“Emperador Brandy continues to lead the domestic market. New programs are being initiated to capture the growing middle class consumers,” he said.

The company owns Emperador Distillers, Scotch whisky maker Whyte and Mackay Group and Bodegas Fundador in Spain. 

It is part of Andrew Tan’s conglomerate, along with other companies such as property giant Megaworld Corp., tourism and leisure company Travellers International Hotel Group, and township builder Global Estate Resorts Inc.
