SSS chief Emmanuel Dooc resigns
MANILA, Philippines — Emmanuel Dooc has resigned as president and chief executive officer of the Social Security System.
In a statement on Wednesday, Dooc said his term as SSS chief automatically expired when the state-run pension fund’s charter was amended.
Dooc sent a letter on Tuesday to President Rodrigo Duterte informing the chief executive about his resignation.
“In the said letter, Dooc voluntarily and irrevocably steps down from his post ‘to provide (him) the opportunity to name a new President and CEO of SSS,’” the SSS said.
Duterte appointed Dooc to the post in 2016 as replacement for Emilio de Quiros. He joined the pension fund after serving as Insurance Commissioner in 2011 until his appointment in SSS. — Ian Nicolas Cigaral
