SSS seeks more partners in Luzon
MANILA, Philippines — State-run Social Security System is eyeing to accredit 30 organized groups as additional servicing and collecting partners in Central Luzon.
During the third leg of the SSS multi-sectoral forum in Pampanga, SSS president and chief executive officer Emmanuel Dooc said the state fund wants to include more cooperatives and non-government organizations as accredited partners to help raise the number of its members and expand its coverage.
“SSS takes pride that more and more cooperatives and other non-government organizations are partnering with the state-run pension fund in its goal towards universal coverage. We are looking forward in forging sustainable partnerships with organized groups to provide our informal sector workers their much-needed social security,” Dooc said.
In addition, the SSS chief said tapping more organized groups as partners would also help increase the awareness of self-employed individuals and encourage them to enroll in the SSS system voluntarily.
In the first nine months, SSS collected P6.01 billion in members’ contributions from Central Luzon, up by 10.7 percent from the previous year.
