Fujifilm sees 125% surge in 2018 revenues
MANILA, Philippines — Fujifilm Philippines Inc. is projecting revenues to surge by 125 percent this year from a year ago as it anticipates strong demand for its digital cameras and medical systems products.
Fujifilm Philippines president Tomoyuki Fukura said that while all its business, segments in the country are growing, digital cameras and medical systems products are expected to drive revenues higher for the company.
“All businesses are growing, but fastest growing are medical and digital cameras,” he said.
He said the digital camera business, which has the biggest share to revenues at 40 percent, is seeing substantial growth due to strong demand particularly in the entry level segment.
This, as he said customers are recognizing that photos taken by digital cameras still have superior quality than those from smartphones.
Fujifilm Philippines’ digital cameras are mirrorless, providing the advantage of being at par with other digital single-lens reflex cameras available in the market, while being smaller and more compact.
Apart from the digital camera business, Fukura said the medical systems business, which accounts for 30 percent of total revenues, is also growing with demand from hospitals for products like x-rays and mammogram machines.
The firm caters to hospitals including Makati Medical Center, St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City and Global City, UERM Memorial Hospital, Manila Doctors Hospital, Philippine General Hospital, Cardinal Santos Medical Center and Chinese General Hospital.
Fujifilm Philippines’ other business segments are instant photo system which covers the Instax cameras, graphic systems, photofinishing products, and industrial products.
Fukura said the firm’s thrust to prioritize service or technical support to better serve customers, is also seen to help drive higher sales for the company.
“In our office, we have our own repair center for our digital camera or endoscopy in the medical systems. With our own repair center, we deliver faster. This contributes to the customer satisfaction,” he said.
In addition, the firm has dedicated microsites and social networking sites for graphics and camera products to provide real-time interaction and answers to all consumers’ inquiries.
The firm also provides other touchpoints through workshops, shooting events, customer interviews, symposium and trade shows.
Fujifilm Philippines, which is under Japan’s Fujifilm Holdings Corp., currently has 134 direct employees.
Apart from its office in Ortigas in Pasig City to serve the Metro Manila market, Fujifilm Philippines has deployed personnel in Cebu and Davao to cater to the Visayas and Mindanao, respectively.
