India’s TVS Motor upbeat on Philippines business prospects

MANILA, Philippines — TVS Motor Co., India’s third biggest motorcycle company, is upbeat in growing its business in the Philippines through the launch of a new scooter and a three-wheeler to serve the local market.

“We are very optimistic about this market,” TVS Motor president and chief executive officer KN Radhakrishnan said in an interview.

He said the company decided to launch the TVS Dazz scooter and TVS King three-wheeler in the country following the positive reception received from the Philippine market for earlier offerings.

“We have been present in the country since 2016 and the market has responded positively to our diverse offerings ranging across underbones, backbone solo and business backbone. The launch of TVS King and TVS Dazz has opened two new segments for us and we are confident that both products will be well-received by the rapidly growing market,” he said.

R Dilip, senior vice president for international business at TVS Motor, said the two new products are designed to meet specific requirements of customers in the country.

He said the TVS Dazz is a 110-cc scooter designed to cater to modern commuters looking for a practical and stylish ride.

Meanwhile, the TVS King is a 200-cc three-wheeler targeted for the tricycle passenger carrier market.

Radhakrishnan said the two new products are manufactured in Indonesia.

Apart from Indonesia, TVS also has three manufacturing plants in India.

Asked if TVS Motor would consider setting up a manufacturing facility in the Philippines for both two-wheelers and three-wheelers, Radhakrishnan said the company would “review it as it is required.”

More than volume of sales, he said the company is putting focus on customer satisfaction.

As such, the company is committed to providing full-time after-sales service support.

Radhakrishnan said spare parts are available in the dealerships of TVS Motor’s partners.

TVS Motor’s products in the Philippines are available in all dealerships of Wheeltek Motor Sales Corp., Bacolod Eversure Marketing Inc., Rhean Motor Center, Key Motors Inc., Stargold Motorcycle Corp. and Gud Motor Trading Inc.

TVS Motor also has a warehouse facility in Manila for spare parts which could be distributed to any part of the country.

“Even before the sales are taking place, we have spare parts ready,” Radhakrishnan said.
