Post-Yolanda Leyte to host international water resource management conference

MANILA, Philippines — The province of Leyte gets to show its recovery and continuing progress from the devastation of Super Typhoon Yolanda five years ago as it hosts the 25th International Conference and Exhibition on Water Resource Management also known as PhilWater 2018 this coming September.

Organized by the Philippine Water Works Association (PWWA) in cooperation with the Leyte Metropolitan Water District (LMWD) and the city government of Tacloban, PhilWater 2018 will be held on Sept. 5 - 7, at the Oriental Hotels and Resorts In Palo, Leyte and is expected to draw hundreds of delegates, exhibitors and product presentors from various parts of the country and abroad.

Carrying the theme, “Water and Sanitation: Global Challenges and Opportunities,” the event will include technical sessions, technological exhibitions and product presentations featuring the latest in water, wastewater, sewerage treatment technologies, operation and maintenance as well as discussions on environmental management and. protection including measures against climate change and natural disasters.

PWWA president Eulogio Agatep III said the association has chosen to hold PhilWater 2018 in Leyte, particularly in the Palo-Tacloban City area to assist authorities to show to the world the recovery and improvements that have been undertaken since the Yolanda devastation in 2013.
