MANILA, Philippines — Sun Life Financial Philippines, the number one life insurance company in the Philippines, announced that its country head and CEO, Riza Mantaring, will retire on June 30, after serving the company for 26 years.
Effective July 1, Mantaring will be succeeded by Benedict Sison, who will take on the role of country head and CEO of Sun Life Financial group of companies in the Philippines. Since joining Sun Life in 2010, Sison has worked in both Sun Life Philippines and Sun Life’s Asia Regional Office, and has demonstrated his ability to successfully fuel growth with strategies and creative solutions that have helped Sun Life to prosper in a growingly competitive market.
Sison is currently the chief strategy and financial management officer for Sun Life Philippines, as well as the president of the Sun Life Prosperity Funds, Inc., Grepalife Funds Corp., a board member of the Sun Life Financial Philippines Holdings Co. and treasurer of the Sun Life Foundation.
Sison is also actively involved in the industry as senior advisor to the Board of Trustees of the Philippine Investment Funds Association (PIFA) and chairperson of the Finance and Investments Committee of the Philippine Life Insurance Association (PLIA).
While Sison takes over as country head and CEO of Sun Life Financial Philippines from July, Mantaring will continue to stay with Sun Life as chair of the Sun Life Philippines Holding Company and will remain on the Board of Sun Life Grepa Financial, Inc. and as chair of the Sun Life Foundation.
