League of Provinces, PLDT forge partnership to boost service
MANILA, Philippines — Telco leader PLDT recently sealed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) aiming to support the organization’s initiatives to utilize ICT for improved public service delivery.
Attending the MOU signing were LPP National President Gov. Ryan Singson and LPP Secretary General Gov. Edgar Chatto. Present on behalf of PLDT were SVP and head of PLDT and Smart Enterprise Groups Jovy Hernandez, VP and head of PLDT ALPHA Vic Tria and PLDT AVP and head of Public Sector Dennis Magbatoc.
“We commend the League of Provinces of the Philippines for undertaking this important initiative in line with our national government’s vision of creating a digital nation,” said VP and head of PLDT ALPHA Vic Tria. “With local government units leveraging on technology to modernize government systems, constituents are able to experience more enhanced and reliable public service.”
Among the PLDT ICT solutions to be provided to LPP was SOS Dispatch, Smart’s new digital public safety and emergency response system designed to enable both small and large communities like university campuses, large-scale industrial areas and local government units. PLDT AVP and head of Public Sector Magbatoc shared that through SOS Dispatch, local government units can build emergency dispatch command centers complete with the necessary end-to-end solutions, enabling emergency response workers to better perform and carry out their functions.
Other services presented during the MOU signing were Paymaya, a prepaid online payment app that enables the financially underserved to pay for goods and services online without a credit card; Takatack, an online marketplace offering products and services from local e-commerce shops; and Web Builder, which provides small and medium enterprises the tools they need to start a business online.
"Enabling local government units across the Philippines with the right tools, Filipinos are assured that their needs will be met swiftly and effectively,” said SVP and head of PLDT and Smart Enterprise Groups Jovy Hernandez. “Our partnership with the League of Provinces of the Philippines goes beyond creating stronger connections or bolstering technological capabilities, but more importantly, they are avenues to ensure that LGUs all over the Philippines are able to give their communities the highest quality public service.”
