SMC proposes P699-B int’l airport in Bulacan

MANILA, Philippines - San Miguel Corp. (SMC) plans to spend P699 billion for its proposed international airport in Bulacan, which is currently being reviewed by the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

Transportation Undersecretary Roberto Lim bared yesterday details on SMC’s unsolicited proposal seen as a potential alternative to the heavily-congested Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Construction of the new airport is targeted to be completed in six years, should it be approved by the government.

It will consist of four runways, with a provision for another two runways, the DOTr data showed.

The project will cover 2,500 hectares, of which 1,168 hectares will be an airport complex while the remaining 1,332 hectares will serve as a city complex.
