8th North Batangas Summit set

MANILA, Philippines – Business leaders, investors, industry stakeholders, local government units and members of the academic community will gather on Jan. 29 for the 8th North Batangas Summit to be held at the Lima Park Hotel in Malvar.

A biennial event started in 2002 by the First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH) in Tanauan, the 8th North Batangas Summit is a venue where various stakeholders present and discuss plans and programs for the sustainable development of the emerging metropolitan area of North Batangas.

This year’s Summit focuses on “Business and Tourism in the Time of Climate Change.” Guest panelists are Climate Change Commission Secretary Emmanuel de Guzman who will speak on climate change. Gov. Joey Salceda will share Albay’s experience through Disaster Preparedness in the Era of Climate Change, Department of Tourism regional director Rebecca Labit will discuss The Impact of Climate Change on Tourism and the Mitigating Response and First Asia Venture Capital chairman Saturnino Belen will talk about Competing for Mind-share in Today’s Fast-changing World. A roundtable discussion to be moderated by journalist and Department of Education Assistant Secretary Tina Ganzon will immediately follow the talks.

The summit also features the major events in North Batangas in the field of history, education, technology and community development that includes the Bisita Batangas tourism campaign, the digital map of Batangas, K-to-12 senior high school, Calabarzon consortium of Engineering schools and Calabarzon infrastructure updates.

The North Batangas corridor is made up of the two cities of Lipa and Tanauan and the six municipalities of Malvar, Balete, Sto. Tomas, Talisay, Laurel and Mataasnakahoy.
