DOTC sets time frame for LRT-6 bidding
MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) has issued the indicative timeline for the bidding of the P65.09 billion Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 6 public-private partnership deal in Cavite.
In a notice posted on the DOTC’s website Wednesday, the agency said the pre-qualification conference for the project would be held sometime in January next year.
The submission of the pre-qualification documents for the project is scheduled on March 4, 2016 at the DOTC’s office in Mandaluyong City.
After the submission of pre-qualification documents, the DOTC is expected to announce in April the firms that are pre-qualified to bid for the project.
The deadline for the submission and opening of technical bids will be held in September, followed by the opening of financial proposals in October.
After the opening of the technical and financial bids, the signing of the concession agreement is targeted in December.
The LRT Line 6 project covers the proposed 19-kilometer railway from Niyog, Bacoor (the terminus of the LRT Line 1 Cavite extension) to Dasmariñas City.
The proposed railway will have seven stations such as Niyog, Tirona, Imus, Daang Hari, Salitran, Congressional Ave., and Governor’s Drive.
The private partner will participate in the project by handling the financing, design as well as the construction of the rail line.
The LRT Line 6 project is in accordance with the Philippine Development Plan 2011 to 2016.
Through the project, the government aims to improve passenger mobility and reduce the volume of vehicular traffic in the Cavite area as many of its residents travel to Manila either for work or education.
