MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT), through its unit PLDT Global Corp. (PGC), has tied up with international remittance network UniTeller Financial Services to develop an online portal and mobile application to make it easier for US-based Filipinos to send money to their family at home.
Eric Alberto, PLDT executive vice president and head of Enterprise and International & Carrier Business and PGC chairman, said the new service is part of the efforts to better serve Filipinos overseas.
“This partnership with Uniteller empowers our fellow Filipinos in the US to conveniently and securely send money to their loved ones in the Philippines using their mobile phones,” he said.
The new service is seen to fit well with the digital lifestyle of the Fil-Am market.
“With this mobile remittance app, they can send money anytime and anywhere they are,” Alberto said.
UniTeller president and chief executive officer Alberto Guerra said the partnership would enable the company to serve the remittances requirements of Filipinos in the US.
“As an international money transfer processing company in the US for over 20 years, we can assure our customers of our fast, secure, and convenient service,” he said.
To avail of the new service, customers simply need to register to the online portal at www.uniteller.com/smart and provide the bank account, credit or debit card details, name of Philippine beneficiary, and send the money instantly.
As a special Christmas promo, PGC president and chief executive officer Alex Caeg said the transaction fee for money remittances made until Dec. 31 of this year would be waived.
PGC is the international marketing, sales and operating arm of PLDT, serving more than 10 million Filipinos overseas.
New Jersey-based UniTeller Financial Services meanwhile, is among the market leaders in international remittances with more than 30,000 paying locations around the world.
UniTeller has an office in Bonifacio Global in Taguig City to handle money remittance to recipients in the Philippines.
