Fil-Japanese group ventures into solar rooftop projects

MANILA, Philippines - Transnational Uyeno Solar Corp. (TUSC) has partnered with Japanese firm Sojitz Pla-Net Corp. to develop solar projects in the country.

The partnership involves the installation of solar rooftops in buildings and industries in the Philippines.

TUSC recently inaugurated an 0.88-megawatt peak solar photovoltaic system at the Carmelray Industrial Park in Canlubang, Laguna, marking the first solar project in the Philippines under the TUSC-Sojitz alliance.

“This is a first for a Filipino-Japanese firm in the country and marks the beginning of more projects and our serious commitment to growing the business,” TUSC general manager Jen Tablante said.

Tokyo Ink president Takahiro Ochiai said the installation of the system would help lessen the companies’ carbon footprint while saving on electricity costs.

“I know that there are numerous Japanese companies interested in investing in Solar Power, and I tell them, it is a worthwhile investment,” he said.

The installation will feature daily alerts which include a detailed update on the energy production of the solar panels.

“We offer our clients unparalleled service and expertise. We only use high-quality materials from reputable, internationally certified component providers and because of our partnership with Uyeno, we are able to deliver thorough service before, during and post installation,” Tablante said.

The firm also aims to widen the use of solar power as a long-term investment by lessening expenses from electricity consumption.

“People still have misguided notions on how solar energy works. Solar energy cannot make you independent from grid power. What it can do is enable you to save up for the long-term,” Uyeno Transtech Ltd. director Nicolas Bivero said.

Prior to the partnership, TUSC has already built a roster of clients, including Starbucks in Quezon City and Bulacan, Jollibee Foods Corp. in Molino, Cavite; Republic Chemical Industries Inc. in Canlubang, La- guna; St. Paul University of the Phils. in Tuguegarao, Cagayan; Boracay E-Trike Charging Station and the NYK-TDG Maritime Academy in Canlubang.
