Ford on track to record sales

MANILA, Philippines - American car company Ford Motor Co. said yesterday it is on track to deliver a record performance in the Philippines this year after sales soared more than half last month.

Ford Philippines said November sales zoomed 55 percent year-on-year to 2,975 units, bringing the company’s sales in the 11-month period to 22,548 units.

The company attributed the robust sales last month to the continued strong demand for the all-new Everest, the EcoSport and the new Ranger.

“Consumers want more choice in their car-purchasing experience and look to Ford for the strength of our vehicle portfolio. Customers value the quality, durability, performance and style of our vehicles, which have contributed to our continued growth in the Philippines,” Ford Philippines managing director Lance Mosley said.

The company reported sales of the all-new Everest last month reached 1,151 units, making it the top-selling nameplate for Ford in the Philippines since its launch in September.

“The all-new Everest has redefined the mid-size SUV segment with its bold design, advanced technology, stunning off-road and on-road capability, and a premium interior that comfortably accommodates up to seven passengers,” Ford Philippines said.

The EcoSport, meanwhile, sold 896 units in November, delivering its best-performing monthly sales in the Philippines since its launch locally in 2014.

Total EcoSport sales since the start of the year stood at 7,902 units, 69 percent higher compared to the same period last year. 

The Ranger likewise sold 716 units in November, with its 11-month sales reaching 7,661 units. 

Ford Philippines said the new Explorer, which sold 80 units in November, is the latest vehicle added to its SUV lineup which is already the largest portfolio in the market.

To further prepare for growth next year, the company said it would expand its nationwide dealership network to 40 locations when Ford Marilao opens by the end of the year.
