Young Entrepreneurs Group of Asia Pacific holds HK breakout session
MANILA, Philippines - Entrepreneurs from Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry member countries convened for the 2015 breakout session of the Young Entrepreneurs Group of Asia Pacific (YEGAP) in Hong Kong.
Delegates discussed trends and developments, concerns, and prospects for growth of entrepreneurship in the region. They also explored possible areas of cooperation with Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) members in promoting entrepreneurship among start-up entrepreneurs.
YEGAP chairperson Anna Marie Periquet welcomed the participants and noted that more young entrepreneurs and start-up businesses are taking an active role in the Asia-Pacific region today.
“The creation of ministries of entrepreneurship by various governments is proof that there is an increase in the number of entrepreneurs doing business in the region. Further, YEGAP members and affiliates have increased significantly in the past years”, Periquet said.
Periquet noted the promotion and development of the entrepreneurship movement helped transform the Asia-Pacific economy to one that is vibrant, competitive and integrated to the world market.
“The youth entrepreneurship movement has become widespread in Asia-Pacific, as the private sector has envisioned an agenda and plan of action for the purpose of encouraging more entrepreneurs to thrive. The YEGAP will continue to pin its hopes on the strength of entrepreneurs whose diverse enterprises continue to serve as the anchor to business and economy; and the YEGAP will continue to serve as an effective venue to implement suitable programs that are available to young entrepreneurs in the region,” Periquet added.
The YEGAP carries an agenda and plan of action for the purpose of encouraging more entrepreneurs from the region to take an active role in various sectors of the society, and also in equal importance, in government, business and socio-economic sectors. It serves as an effective venue to implement suitable programs that are available to young entrepreneurs in Asia-Pacific.
