Cebu Pacific flies to Guam
MANILA, Philippines - The budget carrier of taipan John Gokongwei is offering flights to its first US destination, Guam, beginning March next year.
In a statement yesterday, Cebu Air Inc. (Cebu Pacific) said it would offer flights between Manila and Guam beginning March 15.
The flights would be available four times per week, particularly every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, and utilize the airline’s brand-new Airbus A320 fleet.
The move makes Cebu Pacific the first low-cost carrier to offer direct flights from the Philippines to Guam.
“Having Guam in our network sets us off on another expansion path across the Pacific. With the launch of Guam, we offer fares that are up to 83 percent lower than other airlines. Fares this low can only mean more tourists to both countries, more Filipinos visiting home, and more opportunities for everyone,” Cebu Pacific president and chief executive officer Lance Gokongwei said.
The Manila-Guam route is considered underserved compared to other destinations with smaller number of Filipino residents.
At present, there are approximately 5,900 weekly seats available between Manila and Guam.
With Cebu Pacific’s launch of its services, an additional 1,440 weekly seats would be made available to support higher air traffic between the two destinations.
With the introduction of the new route, Cebu Pacific is offering a seat sale for flights to Guam until Nov. 29 of this year or until seats last.
The seats for the Guam route will be available for P2,500 for the travel period of March 15 to Nov. 30, 2016.
