Iris Gonzales - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Chief executive officers from around the world were served Philippine coffee sourced from different parts of the country during the recently concluded Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit.

Through the invitation of Price Waterhouse Coopers or PwC to fuel their Knowledge Café at the APEC CEO Summit, the Philippine Coffee Board Inc. (PCBI) served the award-winning coffee from Kapatagan, Mt. Apo, Davao to APEC visitors.

There was also coffee from the famed Cordillera care of the Department of Trade and Industry Cordillera (DTI_CAR) and specialty coffees from Bukidnon in the Mt. Matutum area.

The Barista & Coffee Academy of Asia (BCAA), Equilibrium Intertrade Corp., Alaska Milk and the PCBI served the different kinds of coffee during the duration of APEC CEO Summit.

PCBI chair Nicholas Matti said the APEC served as an opportunity to showcase Philippine coffee.

“We are proud of our coffees which can be at par or better than many coffee producers, even those from Latin America and Asia, some members of which were at the summit,” Matti said.

He said it’s time the Philippines showed the world its great coffee.
