DHL spending P150M to cement dominance in Philippines
MANILA, Philippines - DHL Express, the world’s leading international express service provider, is investing close to P150 million to expand its presence and further cement its leadership in the Philippines.
Nurhayati Abdullah, country manager of DHL Express Philippines, said in a press conference that the company is putting up new facilities at the Clark special economic zone, Las Pinas, and Cebu and at the same time expand and upgrade its existing facilities near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
“This year is really an exciting year for us at DHL Express Philippines,” she said.
For one, the company spent P30 million to establish the new DHL Express service center facility covering 1,000 square meters that would cater to customers based in Northern Luzon.
Abdullah said the new facility would result in higher handling capacity at the same time facilitate the industry’s growing demand for trade in the region as its Clark facility accounts for about 15 percent of its total volume in the Philippines.
The Clark service center facility is the first investment of DHL Express in the Philippines this year with expansion in key provinces and cities in Northern Luzon, the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon area), and the Visayas and Mindanao.
“The Philippine market holds great potential for us and we are always on the lookout to further expand our footprint in the country, such investment in this Clark service center facility,” she added.
Abdullah said DHL Express is also putting up a new facility in Las Piñas and is improving its existing facility near NAIA.
She pointed out that the company is spending P78 million to put up a new facility in Las Piñas covering 2,500 square meters to service customers in Southern Luzon particularly the Cavite area as well as another P42 million to upgrade its existing facility near the country’s main international gateway.

“More importantly, we will continue to invest in upgrading our facilities and skill sets of our employees to meet the changing demands of our customers in the Philippines,” she said.
DHL Express Philippines has eight service center facilities and 195 service points nationwide.
Abdullah said its volume handled in the Philippines grew by double-digit levels last year, faster than the 6.1 percent expansion of the country’s domestic output as measured by the gross domestic product (GDP).
“We grew double digit last year and we hope to grow in the same momentum this year,” she added.
