Alliance Select’s Indonesian subsidiary bags fisheries award

MANILA, Philippines - Alliance Select Foods International, Inc. subsidiary, PT International Alliance Foods Indonesia (IAFI), has been awarded an Adibhakti Mina Bahari — the highest Indonesian recognition of its kind given by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of Indonesia. IAFI placed second best in the “Large-Scale Fish-Processing Unit” category.

Alliance Select Foods International, Inc. established IAFI in May of 2008, subsequently acquiring the assets of an Indonesian tuna cannery located in Bitung, in the island of North Sulawesi. The acquisition allowed IAFI access to rich Indonesian marine resources thereby expanding the combined operating capacity of the company’s two canned-tuna processing facilities to 230 metric tons per day. Alliance Select has, since then, been supplying hundreds of brand-name companies worldwide.

A contributing factor in IAFI’s recognition was the upgrade of capacity to 90 metric tons of tuna per day. This was achieved with the complete renovation of the factory to ensure the availability of tuna at competitive prices and sustainable supply.

The annual Adibhakti Mina Bahari recognizes exemplary execution of service in small, medium, and large fish processing enterprises in Indonesia. And it was designed by the Indonesian Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries to primarily manifest appreciation for best practices in the maritime and fisheries sector.

Adibhakti Mina Bahari is divided into eight categories and winners were judged based on criteria covering product safety, speed of service, accuracy, affordability, equitability, and accountability.
