MANILA, Philippines - Through ‘The Pepsi Challenge’, the story and heritage of Pepsi in the Philippines has been welcomed with international renown.

In a gala banquet held at the historic Westin Pars Vendome, over a hundred executives from around the world gathered for the awarding of the Annual International Business Awards, the world’s premier business awards program. Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word for “crowned,” this year’s edition received more than 3,500 nominations from organizations in various industries.

This year, Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines Inc., (PCPPI) exclusive bottler of well-loved Pepsi drinks in the Philippines, was conferred with the highest honor, a Gold Stevie, for its publication of The Pepsi Challenge: A Journey of Remarkable Resilience - a large format, hardbound book that traces PCPPI’s history, challenges, and successes in the Philippines.

“We are delighted that the International Business Awards have given us this honor - the first Gold Stevie for the Philippines in the publications category,” says PCPPI vice president for corporate affairs and communications Jika Dalupan.

Stevie Award winners were selected by more than 250 executives worldwide who participated in the judging process from May through early August.

“We congratulate all of the Stevie winners in this year’s IBAs,” said Michael Gallagher, president and founder of the Stevie Awards. “The quality of entries we receive improves every year. This year’s judges were rewarded with the opportunity to review more than 3,500 stories of business achievement and innovation from around the world.

PCPPI president Furqan Ahmed Syed said: “The story of Pepsi in the Philippines captures the struggles and the triumphs that we had to face over our nearly 70-year history in the country; and we accept this award on behalf of our dedicated employees, partners, clients, and consumers who have always believed in us and supported us through thick and thin.”
