Young business leaders discuss opportunities in symposium
MANILA, Philippines - Emerging business leaders Sam Christopher Lim and Wilson Y. Tieng presented fresh opportunities and tends in the ratailing, franchising and film and television industries at a symposium organized by the Lim Family Youth Committee.
The forum, held at Ramada Hotel in Binondo, Manila, is part of the efforts of the Grand (Federation) Family Association and Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry to better prepare the next generation of business leaders and improve their competitiveness.
The free symposium focused on business opportunities in franchising, retailing, tourism, restaurants, entertainment, e-commerce, sports and movie industry.
Lim, vice president for marketing and strategy of FranCorp Philippines and president of U-Franchise, brings over a decade of global marketing experience from Bangkok, Shanghai and London as a former senior global brand manager for Unilever.
He is a multi-awarded marketer who graduated with distinction from Oxford University and was awarded with the Young Market Masters award. He is also currently the chairman for ASEAN integration of the Philippine Franchise Association (PFA).
Lim is the son PFA chairman emeritus Samie Lim, known as the “Father of Philippine Franchising.”
“We have seminars like this to help our future business leaders remain abreast with the fast changing business landscape, especially with the various multilateral and regional agreements taking shape and getting implemented,” said Samie Lim, who is also chairman of BLIMS Lifestyle Group Inc. and A. Social Ventures.
Tieng is the president and CEO of Solar Entertainment Corp. He also serves as president of the Motion Picture Distributors Association of the Philippines (MPDAP), composed of local movie producers and independent film distributors, and president of KLG International.
He serves as chairman of Federal Distributors and Winning Touch. He serves as chairman and director of Solar Entertainment Corp. He has been chairman of the board of iRipple Inc. since July 2010. He also serves as a member of the Board of Motion Picture Anti-Film piracy Council, a non-governmental organization composed of producers, distributors, and exhibitors.
