Pinoy firms urged to invest in China

SHANDONG – A high-ranking government official is inviting Filipino investors to explore business opportunities in this northwestern Chinese province.

At present, a lot of the companies located here are into food and manufacturing, said Zu Ai Ming, party secretary for Jiyang County of Shandong’s capital city of Jinan.

One of them is Filipino company Liwayway Marketing Corp., whose newest and largest facility in China is being built on a 33-hectare land provided by the government.

According to the government official, some other Filipino companies are already talking about exploring possibilities in Shandong.

Jiyang, is one of the counties of Jinan, the capital city of Shandong province.

Home to the Yellow River, Shandong’s agricultural output is ranked number 1 in China, said Liu Fanghui, director general of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Shandong Provincial People’s Government. Its industrial output is ranked second.

He said they estimate the GDP of Shandong will reach $6 trillion at the end of this year.
