MAILBOX: Not under DPWH
This refers to the comments of Mr. Babe G. Romualdez in his column, Spy Bits titled “AirAsia Zest frustrated with CAAP, DPWH,” (Philippine STAR, Oct. 28. 2014).
In his column, Mr. Romualdez, stated among others, “Air Asia Zest chair and AirAsia Philippine CEO Maan Hontiveros expressed her extreme disappointment with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and the Department of Public Works and Highways over the delay in the restoration of the Daniel Z. Romualdez (DZR) Airport in Tacloban City.”
May we wish to inform that the maintenance and restoration of the DZR Airport is within the mandate of the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC), hence, the project is under their direct supervision.
Nevertheless, DPWH as requested by DOTC is extending help in sourcing the supply of asphalt mixture in the area to facilitate on-schedule completion of their project.
May we request for the publication of this letter to enlighten the reading public.
