MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is organizing the country’s first National Art Fair as it seeks to promote the creative industry.
“In venturing in this fair for the first time, the DTI does not only seek to position the creative industry in the domestic market but also to make Filipinos engage in this promising industry,” Trade Undersecretary Ponciano Manalo Jr. said in a statement.
The National Art Fair to be held from Sept. 26 to 28 at the Megatrade Halls 1 and 2 in SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City, is part of the domestic trade shows being organized by the DTI under the Sikat Pinoy brand.
The upcoming fair will showcase the country’s select collection of paintings, sculptures, prints, photographs, literature, music and performing art pieces.
It will also offer fine crafts from all regions of the country.
Art collectors and interior designers can select from a wide array of art pieces during the fair.
Professional event planners and party organizers can also find performers, musicians, dancers, filmmakers, and other creative experts for their upcoming events there.
“With various art pieces displayed in the fair, the DTI expects to expand the market of art pieces of established artists, and at the same time, inspire budding artist and entrepreneurs to start a business in the creative industry,” Manalo said.
The DTI is organizing domestic trade fairs as part of efforts to promote the country’s micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME).
The domestic fairs organized under the Sikat Pinoy brand are focused on priority sectors such as food, fashion, furniture and furnishing.
The government is providing support to MSMEs as the sector is seen as a key contributor to economic growth.
MSMEs account for more than 90 percent of the country’s total registered businesses.
