MANILA, Philippines - Isuzu Philippines Corp. (IPC) aims to sell about 500 units per month of the newly launched mu-X sports utility vehicle (SUV).

IPC executive vice president Takashi Tomita told reporters via text message the firm intends to sell “roughly 500 units per month” of the mu-X.

“(We have) target sales of 6,000 units for 2015,” he said.

The seven-seater mu-X launched Tuesday night replaces the IPC’s Alterra.

“It is well known that Isuzu manufactures some of the world’s best diesel-powered vehicles. While most of these models are reputed for their robust construction, making them ideal workhorses, the same qualities also underlie Isuzu vehicles that are built for leisure, comfort and performance.

The All-New Isuzu mu-X is a perfectly stylish example of this, delivering impressive utility that is mixed with a premium driving experience,” IPC president Nobuo Izumina said.

The new vehicle model, which has three variants,  is being sold at a price range of P1.188 million to P1.748 million.

The latest addition to the IPC lineup is now available in authorized Isuzu dealerships across the country.

In Metro Manila, Isuzu dealerships are located in EDSA Balintawak, Quezon Avenue, Commonwealth, Pasig, Manila, Makati and Alabang, while provincial outlets are located in Isabela, Pangasinan, Cabanatuan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, San Pablo, Bacolod, Iloilo, Mandaue, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, and General Santos.

Late last month, IPC also unveiled the new D-MAX X-Series pickup in line with its aim to grow sales.

The company has set a record-high sales target of 15,000 units this year.

Last year, it sold 11,793 units.

As of end-July, IPC’s total vehicle sales reached 7,441 units, up 8.6 percent from the 6,851 units in the same period last year.
