Peso plunges, breaches 44-peso mark

MANILA, Philippines - The peso breached the 44-peso territory against the dollar on Thursday when it closed at 44.08 from the previous day's 43.71.

Total volume transacted at the Philippine Dealing System amounted to $1.33 billion, higher than the $833.7 billion posted on Wednesday.

The peso opened Thursday at 43.82.
