Toyota sales zoom 65% to record high in July
MANILA, Philippines - Toyota Motors Philippines (TMP) said yesterday it has achieved a new monthly sales record in July by selling 10,123 units.
Coming from a 9,000-unit sales performance in May, the July sales breached the company’s 10,000-unit monthly sales target.
This is the first time any local car manufacturer experienced such performance in terms of vehicle sales, TMP noted.
The record sales performance in July is likewise a 65 percent increase from the same period last year.
TMP said strong demand for its best-selling Vios and Innova models contributed to the July total, with sales of 2,480 units and 1,614 units, respectively.
These were also the highest recorded monthly sales record for these units since their introduction to the Philippine market.
Last month’s sales performance was further strengthened by other top-selling Toyota models such as the mini hatchback Wigo with 935 units sold, the utility van Hi-Ace registering sales of 1,280 units and the SUV Fortuner with 1,350 units sold.
In the first seven months of the year, TMP sold 58,635 units, a growth of 43 percent from the same period last year.
“We at Toyota Motors Philippines would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to our customers for making Toyota as their preferred choice of vehicle. We are pleased by the continuous support and belief they have shown leading to this sales milestone. Ultimately, this would not be possible without them,” said TMP president Michinobu Sugata.
“Achieving more than 10,000 units in a single month is indeed a leap forward coming from a 9,000 unit sales level last May. We see this feat as another motivation to our team to constantly find ways in serving our customers and partners even better” he added.
