Epson claims lead in projector, printer market
MANILA, Philippines - Imaging systems provider Epson Philippines claims to be the market leader in the projector and printer markets in fiscal year 2013 and the first quarter of 2014.
In a statement, the local unit of Japan-based Epson Group, said Epson was the top projector brand in the Philippine market during the fourth quarter of 2013 and the first quarter of 2014 with a market share of 29.89 percent and 31.84 percent respectively.
This was based on a report by Future Source Consulting, a third party marketing research company tracking data in the worldwide electronics market for the past 25 years.
The other brands pitted against the Epson brand in the Philippines has market shares ranging from eight percent to 27 percent during the last quarter of 2013 and the first quarter of 2014.
“We are very glad to receive the good news of Epson’s leadership position in the projector category for the Philippine market,†said Epson Philippines President Toshimitsu Tanaka. “We attribute this achievement not only to the technical superiority of our products and the unending support from our partners but also to Epson’s design philosophy of taking feedback from our customers and using this to build products that exceed their expectations.â€
The market assessment came on the heels of the 25th anniversary of Epson’s 3LCD proprietary projector technology.
Another survey commissioned by the company showed that the Epson brand has cornered a 97 percent market share in the dot matrix printer category for fiscal year 2013, an improvement from the market share of 90.3 percent in the previous fiscal year.
The market data produced by research firm International Data Corporation showed that brands competing with Epson brand in the dot matrix printer category had market shares of one to two percent during the period under review.
Epson also remains as the top-performing brand in the ink jet printer category in 2013 with a market share of 33.1 percent against the market shares of competitors which were placed at 11 to 29 percent.
