Hogcon convention

MANILA, Philippines -  Sen. Cynthia A. Villar, chairperson of the Senate committee on agriculture and food and Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alacala, leads the ceremonial cutting of the lechon (roasted pig) during the opening of the 23rd HOGCON held recently in General Santos City recently. The convention, with theme ‘Agrikulturang Pilipino ay Palakasin… Paghahayupan ay Kalingain at Pagyamanin para sa Masagana at Ligtas na Pagkain,’ was hosted by South Cotabato Swine Producers Association in cooperation with Koronadal Valley Livestock Growers Multipurpose Cooperative and organized by the National Federation of Hog Farmers Inc (NFHFI) and Pork Producers of the Phils. Inc. (ProPork). Witnessing the event are NFHFI chairman Vicente Mercado, General Santos City Mayor Ronnel Rivera, Agriculture Undersecretary Jose Reano and AGAP-Partylist Rep. Nicanor Briones.
