Globe taps Aussie company to expand sales network
MANILA, Philippines - Ayala-led Globe Telecom Inc. has tied up with Australia-based telecoms retail firm Allphones to expand its sales distribution channels and further cement its leadership in the postpaid segment.
Peter Bithos, chief operating advisor at Globe, said in a statement that the exclusive partnership with Allphones would help beef up the company’s postpaid subscriber base.
“We are one with Allphones in their commitment to superior service, as well as ensuring that we empower customers with customizable products that better fit their needs, budget and lifestyle,†he said.
Allphones has 50 branches in the Philippines and currently prides itself with a tablet-based, digital, and paperless process for faster, safer and more seamless plan applications.
Allphones Stores carry the widest range of handset brands, including device accessories and other gadgets.
He pointed out that the partnership between Globe and Allphones is yet another milestone in the industry as both bring the future of telecoms and mobile retailing in the Philippines .
“We are excited to see how Allphones will continue to trailblaze the industry by providing a game-changing retail experience to Filipino mobile phone users,†he added.
With the collaboration, Globe has widened its reach to acquire new postpaid subscribers, which currently include the Globe Stores, Globe Hotline, the Globe website, and other alternative sales channels.
For its part, Allphones will offer the latest mobile phone models bundled with Globe mySUPERPLAN, the suite of fully-customizable postpaid plans from the leading telecommunications company.
Customers could choose from a wide portfolio of postpaid plans for as low as Plan 299 to the higher-end plans, as well as contract periods ranging from six to 24 months.
Aside from flexible postpaid plans and contract periods, Allphones and Globe are also offering the UNLI 599 SIM-only plan, where customers can choose from unlimited calls and texts to Globe/TM numbers, unlimited calls to Globe/TM mobile and landline, unlimited texts to all networks, or unlimited mobile Internet with a monthly service fee of only P599 to bundle with their choice of handset.
Globe remained the undisputed leader in the postpaid segment after ending 2013 with double-digit growth both in postpaid revenues and subscriber base amid the aggressive switching campaigns and attractive price offerings of its competitors.
Its postpaid base grew 17 percent to reach 2.03 million last year from 1.7 million in 2012 as gross subscriber additions reached over 711,000 as of end-December.
Globe’s total mobile subscriber base jumped 16 percent to 38.5 million last year from 33.1 million subscribers in 2012. Full year acquisitions also reflected the improving quality of acquired postpaid subscribers with 51 percent of gross additions signing up for postpaid plans with monthly service fees of P999 and above, compared to 44 percent in 2012.
With the robust growth and continued expansion of the company’s postpaid customer base, postpaid revenues surged 18 percent to P27.1 billion last year.
