BOC accreditation seminar today

MANILA, Philippines - Organized port users are conducting today at the Diamond Hotel in Malate, Manila another seminar on the new accreditation guidelines formulated by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) for the benefit importers and Customs brokers who missed an earlier forum on the same topic. Port Users Confederation (PUC) president Col. Rodolfo de Ocampo (ret.) said the encore was in response to a growing clamor among PUC members and interested non-members who missed the earlier seminar  also held at the Diamond Hotel last March 10 on the new procedures, which caused some confusions during the early days of its implementation. De Ocampo explained that the exercise was imperative to enlighten importers and Customs brokers on the new procedures which caused quite a confusion  during the initial days of implementation.

“We understand the purpose of tightening the accreditation procedures for importers and customs brokers to ferret out the fictitious companies. But the new procedures confused even some of our members, so we invited officials from the BOC and the BIR to explain the new procedures to the seminar participants.” de Ocampo said.
