Peso plunges to 40-month low

MANILA, Philippines- The peso dropped to its lowest level in 40 months against the greenback after closing at 44.815 on Tuesday, weaker than the 44.605 posted on Monday.
Total volume traded amounted to $771.1 million, higher than the previous day's $591.6 million.
The peso earlier hit a three-year low last Tuesday due to strong dollar sentiment despite disappointing jobs data from the United States.
