MANILA, Philippines - Sales of Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMPC) hit a record high of 75,587 units in 2013 amid strong demand for both its passenger car (PC) and commercial vehicle (CV) lineup.

TMPC president Michinobu Sugata said in a statement the sales performance last year exceeded the company’s sales forecast of 75,000 units for 2013.

Compared to the 65,396 units sold in 2012, last year’s sales were up 16 percent.

The firm achieved all-time high sales given demand for both its PCs and CVs.

TMPC’s PC sales rose 21 percent to 25,847 units in 2013 compared to the previous year’s sale of 21,291 units.

The company’s CV sales, meanwhile, posted a 13 percent increase to 49,740 units from 44,105 units in 2012.

Sales of the Toyota Vios, the country’s best-selling vehicle, reached 20,493 units in 2013, 24 percent higher than in the previous year.

The firm’s second best-selling vehicle model, the Innova, posted an eight percent year-on-year growth in sales to reach 14,376 units in 2013.

For the month of December alone, TMPC sold a total of 6,976 units, seven percent higher than the 6,506 units sold in the same month in 2012.

The Vios tallied its fourth consecutive month of record-breaking sales in December registering 2,345 units, while the Innova registered its highest sales for the year with 1,466 units sold last month.

The Vios and Innova are assembled at the TMPC’s plant in Laguna.

“This new sales milestone wouldn’t have been possible if not for the trust and loyalty our customers have towards our brand. These achievements are our main drivers to consistently find ways to serve our customers better with excellent products and services,” Sugata said.
