Six more Uniqlo stores to open in 2014

MANILA, Philippines - The local unit of Japan’s Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. is on track with its goal to have a total of 50 Uniqlo stores in the country by the end of 2015 as it plans to open at least six new outlets next year.

Fast Retailing Philippines, Inc. managing director Katsumi Kubota said in a text message the firm intends to have “six stores to be opened before August 2014.”

“More stores to come after September 2014,” he added.

Among the locations which have been identified for the new Uniqlo stores are SM South Mall in Las Pinas City, Eastwood City and Gateway Mall in Quezon City and SM Santa Rosa in Laguna.

The firm is expanding its presence in the country as it seeks to grow its business here.

The expansion is being carried out amid strong domestic consumption.

To date, there are 11 Uniqlo stores in the country, mostly located in Metro Manila.

The provincial outlets are located in Pampanga and Cavite.

Kubota said the firm is sticking with its plan to have a total of 50 Uniqlo stores in the country by end-2015.

The firm established its presence in the Philippines when it opened its first Uniqlo store in 2012.

Uniqlo designs, manufactures and sells casual apparel under the “Made for All” philosophy.

Apart from Japan and the Philippines, it has stores in markets such as China, France, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom and the US.
