Property stakeholders to hold summit

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Organization of Property Stakeholders Inc. (TOPS), composed of  real estate developers, brokers, and members of the banking industry countrywide, is set to hold a summit to identify the major challenges affecting the stakeholders in the multi-billion peso real estate industry.

With the theme “Transparency, Efficiency, and Accountability: A Challenge to All Property Stakeholders,” the summit will be held on Oct.18, at the Marco Polo Hotel in Davao City.

The summit, a “highlight event for 2013,” according to TOPS president Michael Jansen Abella, will focus on the present status of the industry as well as review of the existing processes and come up with solutions to cope with the booming real estate industry.

Abella said that the summit is very timely and relevant as this aims to further improve private-public coordination in the hope that the industry can grow and sustain the demand created by the growth of the real estate industry. For this purpose, the Land Registration Authority (LRA) and other government agencies have been invited to grace the event.  Groups and individuals may register for the event by sending an email to [email protected].

Abella said the summit will bolster the private sector’s and government’s shared vision and common goal that will ultimately benefit the transacting public. He acknowledged the government’s efforts in reaching out to the private sector, and said that TOPS aims to do the same by supporting its projects and programs.

LRA Administrator Eulalio Diaz  III cited the forthcoming event as very timely in view of the agency’s stepped up implementation of the land titling computerization program, strengthened drive against organized crime involved in fake land titles, and closer coordination with pertinent agencies and private corporations servicing property owners.

“This summit is seen to expand the private-public understanding of the new challenges and the concomitant responsibilities that confront the industry in order to sustain and improve the industry,” Diaz stressed.
