DOTC allots P83.5M for airport, port projects

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) is spending P83.5 million to construct an access road to the airport in Samar as well as to improve ports in seven provinces.

In an invitation to bid, the DOTC asked interested bidders to join the bidding for the Borongan airport development project as well as the port development projects for the provinces of Dinagat Islands, Antique, Ilocos Sur, Romblon, and Mindoro Occidental.

The agency is spending P14.52 million to construct an access road for the Borongan airport in Eastern Samar.

It also allocated P23 million for the Culasi port development project in Antique, P17.3 million to upgrade the Azagra Feeder port in Romblon, P13.2 million for the Hamtic port development project also in Antique, P4.9 million for the Alcantara port project in Romblon, P4.6 million for the Brgy. Ruben C. Ecleo Sr. wharf development project in Dinagat Islands, P4.2 million for the Pandan port project in Ilocos Sur, and P4.1 million for the Lubang Port project in Mindoro Occidental.

The DOTC said the bidding would be conducted under RA 9184 otherwise known as the Government Procurement Reform Act.

The agency added that the bidding is limited to companies with at least 75 percent interest belonging to Filipino citizens.

Likewise, prospective bidders should have completed at least one contract similar and should be at least worth at least 50 percent of the approved budget of contract of the projects to be undertaken.
