Central bank maintains interest rates

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - The central bank today decided to keep benchmark interest rates at their current level, citing manageable inflation.

Following its policy setting meeting today, monetary officials kept benchmark interest rates at record-lows of 3.5 percent for overnight borrowing and 5.5 percent for overnight lending.

The interest charged on special deposit account (SDA) and reserve requirement ratios were likewise maintained.

The central bank decided to maintain an accommodative policy stance amid global uncertainties that threaten growth.
