Phl ad agencies win big in 'Cannes' of advertisement

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Philippine advertising agencies scored major wins at the Cannes Festival of Creativity Lions.

McCann Worldgroup Philippines received Silver in Radio for Philippine Cancer Society's "Press" and "Hold", while TBWA/Santiago Mangada Puno grabbed two trophies in Design: a Silver for Pacific Paint's "The Biggest Filter (Project EDSA)" and a Bronze for Ayala Land's "Koi Fish Feed Invite".

Meanwhile, Derek S. Lorenzo's search for a new "Ana Banana"  chronicled in the "Screen-Age Love Story " for PLDT gave Ace Saatchi & Saatchi one of its two Media Lions, a Silver for Best Use of Social Media.

Derek's  little sister put out a heartfelt call on the internet for someone to heal his broken broken heart,  following rejection from his previous crush, "Anna Banana". In the end, Derek found a new love with the help of high-speed internet.

Saatchi Manila's other winner is the "Olympic Shirt Flag", which  got a bronze for Commercial Public Services including Healthcare & Medical. The campaign was nearly scrapped after having been scrapped owing to difficulty to execute it on a worldwide scale.

Saatchi Manila, which had originally conceived the campaign,  sought  the permission of client P & G to execute the idea in the Philippines. The campaign became a success when Filipinos all over the country took part, donating portions of their t-shirts to make the Philippine Team's official national flag at the 2012 Olympics.
