New player to challenge big guns in Boracay

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A new player in the travel and leisure industry is out to challenge the major players of Boracay.

“We are investing at least P700 million in our new baby,” Amb. Alfredo M. Yao announced recently, adding that the birth of his new and modern resort is expected by first quarter of 2014.

Yao’s conglomerate includes Zest-O Corp., RC Cola, Solmac Mktg. Inc, Semexco Marketing Inc., Philippine Business Bank, SMI Development Corp. and just fit to complement Zest Air business now emerges Summit Hotel and Resort Specialist Inc. managing and developing its flagship resort property the Sol Marina Resort Boracay at Punta Bunga Cove, Barangay Yapak, Boracay Island, one among the various streamlined properties in other prime tourist destinations.

Yao said that the lavish upgrade and redevelopment will boost Sol Marina Resort’s ability to grab market share in the highly competitive tourist island of Boracay.

“In an industry that’s always changing, with evolving as well as new hybrid and dynamic markets it is compelling to note that the birth of the new Sol Marina Resort Boracay embarks to capture 20 percent market share from the projected local and international tourist arrival statistics of DOT estimated at 1.8 million to Boracay by 2014.”

Today, the resort comprising 55 rooms in a four-hectare property is undergoing major redevelopment with construction work expedited for its new 13 resort buildings with 297 new resort rooms and modernized facilities, which includes a 3,000 sqm infinity pool, a mini golf course, a convention centre for 700-1000 delegates, an ampitheater, fine dining and al fresco restaurants with function rooms and a pool bar.

Yao says the new Sol Marina Boracay will overshadow much of its sun and beach tourism destination siblings in the Philippines.

Even now, with the existing resort, it expects to serve an estimated 30,000 guests for a minimum of 15,000 room nights for 2013. That means average occupancy of 70 percent despite the ongoing construction.

Satisfied guests laud Sol Marina for its pampering service, gracious hospitality and its people who go the extra mile.

A new 3,000 sqm swimming pool will complement its beautiful white sand and private beach by July of this year.

Yao advised travelers to watch for periodical press releases for baby shower promos of the New Sol Marina Resort Boracay until its scheduled delivery by first quarter 2014.
