Minelab sets up Phl office
MANILA, Philippines -A global leading company in gold detection technology has announced the establishment of its gold mining division in the country to support artisanal small scale gold miners and prospectors.
Minelab made the announcement during the Mining Indaba conference in Cape Town, South Africa recently.
Minelab general manager Peter Charlesworth said the new gold mining division would offer a specialized portfolio of products, accessories and support services such as on and off field training and provide expert advice on the use of gold detectors so that miners can produce results even in the toughest mineralized soil condition in a cost effective way and minimal disruption to the environment.
In areas where traditional subsistence mining has taken place for generations, Minelab has introduced cutting edge technology and provided training and support to enable communities to transform their gold mining activities and their lives for the better, Charlesworth said.
Meanwhile, Minelab traced the recent discovery of a 5.5-kilogram gold nugget in Ballarat, Australia by a prospector with the use of its GPX 5000 hand-held gold detector at the depth of only 60 centimeters. The nugget was valued at $300,000.
A prospector in Mongolia also discovered a 50 grams of gold in the Gobi Altai province using Minelab’s gold detecting technology.
Minelab launched its first hand-held gold detector in Australia in 1985. Over the past 28 years, Minelab has been at the forefront of metal detector design and innovation.
Sheila Kelleher, general manager of Minelab’s gold mining division, said the new division would support the worldwide small scale gold mining market and communities.
