Donnabelle L. Gatdula - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Philippine National Bank has launched a new remittance service that will allow US-based customers to remit funds using their phone 24/7.

In a statement, PNB said this service is initially available in 22 US States covered by 32 PNB-Remittance Center Inc. overseas branches.

To avail of the phone remit service, customers could enroll in two ways: simply call the phone remit hotline 855-889-7788 or visit any of the 32 PNB-RCI branches in the US.

Remittances can be made via credit to a PNB account, credit to another bank account in the Philippines, door-to-door delivery, and through cash pick up.

PNB said phone remittance charges  start at $6, one of the most competitively priced service fees in the market.

However, as a way of welcoming clients to the service, PNB said the first phone-in remittance is free of charge. This offer is available within a limited time only.

PNB is the only Philippine bank with the largest footprint overseas, and takes pride in being one of the market leaders in the remittance business catering to the needs of global Filipinos.

Through PNB-RCI’s 32 branches in the US and PNB-RCI Phone Remit, clients can feel secure knowing that their funds are in safe hands when they remit money to their beneficiaries in the Philippines, it said.

In October 1990, PNB-RCI, a subsidiary of PNB International Investments Corp., was spun off from, Century Finance and Remittance Centers Inc. (CFRCI).

The California Department of Financial Institutions licensed it as a transmitter of money abroad in May 1991. It is also supervised and examined by different regulatory agencies in Nevada, Texas, Illinois, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, Florida, Washington State, Oregon and Alaska.

PNB-RCI began its operations by opening the National City branch (in San Diego) in September, 1991 followed by Chicago, Illinois branch in February 1992 and the simultaneous openings of West Covina and Union City branches in March 1992. Jersey City in New Jersey, San Jose and Carson branches opened for business that same year.
