Pinoy SMBs urged to take advantage of 'virtualization'

MANILA, Philippines – Tech companies Symantec Corp. and VMware are urging small and medium businesses (SMBs) and enterprises in the Philippines to use the benefits of virtualization without compromising protection.

Luichi Robles, senior country manager for Symantec Philippines, said with IT budgets that are shrinking or just holding steady in the Philippines, businesses will want to make the most of their investment in the current infrastructure.

"Businesses have commonly implemented virtualization in non-critical environments due to perceived obstacles such as reduced availability and performance of critical systems. But the real benefits come when enterprises move business critical applications to virtual or cloud environments," Robles said.

Symantec announced new solutions and technical integrations with VMware across its product portfolio to provide higher levels of protection for virtualized environments. Among these involve backup, recovery, archiving, security, compliance, storage and availability management.

The IT security firm added they have achieved more than 100 integrations with VMware cloud infrastructure.

Robles noted that Symantec’s deep integration with the IT solutions firm VMware, enables companies to take advantage of the productivity achieved with virtualization and the cloud without compromising protection.
