Donnabelle L. Gatdula - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Asian Bankers Association (ABA) will be holding its 29th general meeting and conference in the Philippines on Nov. 13, to be hosted by Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC).

With the theme “Asian Banks – Moving Forward Amidst Global Uncertainty,” the conference will discuss issues such as the global slowdown from the euro zone debt crisis and weakened US economy and how these are affecting the Asian region.

The conference will also tackle concerns on how Asia as a whole may benefit from greater foreign investments.

It will likewise discuss what strategies are being employed by the banks and financial institutions to achieve sustained and sustainable growth in the face of external and internal challenges.

Bangko Sentral Pilipinas Governor Amando M. Tetangco Jr. will be one of the special guests in the event.

ABA chairman Rajendra Theagarajah and incoming ABA chairman and RCBC president and CEO Lorenzo V. Tan would be leading officials during the conference to be held at  the Makati Shangri-La.

The ABA conference is a gathering of top banking professionals from some 25 countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

It aims to promote regional economic cooperation and advance the cause of the banking and finance industry in the region.
