MANILA, Philippines - The Center for Global Best Practices (CGBP) is launching a pioneering seminar entitled, “Taxation of Banks & Other Financial Intermediaries” on Nov. 22, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Peninsula Hotel, Makati City. The featured lecturer for this special program is tax expert Benedicta “Dick” Du-Baladad, CPA, managing partner of Du-Baladad & Associates (BDB Law). Formerly president of the Tax Management Association of the Philippines, her areas of tax practice include banking, insurance, capital markets, financial intermediation, advertising and technology. She has been practicing taxation and corporate law for almost 27 years. This one-time seminar will benefit organizations and individuals involved in banks, investment houses, finance and leasing companies as well as pawnshops. This special program will focus on updates, solutions, and best practices regarding various forms of taxation, including documentary stamp tax, taxation of trust and trust products, taxation of OBUs and EFCDUs and other financial transactions.  The in-depth lecture will cover BSP matters related to tax, BIR audit thrusts and proper interpretation and implementation of new BIR rulings.
