MANILA, Philippines - Fortune Life founder and chairman emeritus Amb. Antonio Cabangon Chua’s humble beginnings are no secret. They were in fact the foundation on which Fortune Life’s advocacy, The Value of Hard Work and Discipline, was built on.
Having sown so much perseverance and discipline does not only reap the Cabangons a conglomerate but also a priceless celebration of the advocacy’s second year, which was successfully launched in partnership with the Department of Education and advocacy expert, Marylindbert International, at the DepEd’s Bulwagan Hall in Pasig City.
The advocacy campaign aims to inspire and teach Grade 3 and 4 students that through determination, perseverance and discipline, they can go far beyond their dreams.
To effectively teach the value of hard work and discipline to the young mind, Fortune Life distributed thousands of workbooks to public schools for free. The workbook also features true-to-life experiences of Amb. Cabangon and his mother among the other success stories of well-respected business personalities in the country.
Teachers are also given teaching guides and are trained by venerable DepEd icons, personality development coaches and speakers.
One of the advocacy’s highlights on its second year is the expansion of its target schools from NCR, Region 3 and 4 to Cebu and Davao. The launch also signifies Fortune Life’s continuous effort to establish, sustain, cement relationship with each of its current and future policy holders.
Education Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro and Undersecretary Yolanda Quijano, together with teachers and principals from different schools, joined in the celebration. Fortune Life’s executive vice president and general manager Evelyn Carada’s warm welcome remarks was followed by a powerful speech on Walking the Talk on Hard Work and Discipline by Arnold Cabangon, president of Fortune Life.
Amb. Cabangon gave an awe inspiring and passionate speech peppered with true to life experiences that even more drove the point of the advocacy. He thanked everyone who unselfishly gave their time in the implementation of the program and expressed his deepest gratitude to the officials of DepEd for their support and dedication.
The event also paved the way for quite a number of interesting revelations. Luistro, in his keynote speech, revealed that Fortune Life president Arnold Cabangon was his former student in La Salle. He also acknowledged the advocacy’s contribution in the student’s values development and to the recently launched K to 12 program of the Department of Education.
Five advocacy implementors were given recognition for excellence in implementing the program in their respective schools. Awardees were Amcy Esteban of Legarda Elementary School, Benzon German of the East Rembo Elementary School, Rosanilia Saludo of GB Lontok Memorial School, Catalino Inovero of DepEd Bulacan and Edna Madrid of DepEd Pasig. – Bum Tenorio
