DOTC allots P25 million for Caraga LTO bldg
MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) is spending P25.2 million for the construction of a regional office and the rehabilitation of existing Land Transportation Office (LTO) buildings in Caraga.
Outgoing Transport Secretary Mar Roxas said the projects are meant to further raise the standards of its services “to levels suitable to servicing the Filipino public.”
The procurement program aligns with the master plan set by Roxas to reengineer the Philippines’ transport system to make it convenient, affordable, reliable, efficient and Safe.
First in the list of the project up for bidding involves the construction and completion of the three-story DOTC Caraga Regional Office.
Likewise, the DOTC intends to renovate the LTO district offices in Butuan City, Patin-ay and Surigao, and would put up perimeter fences and steel gates in LTO district offices in Tandag and Bislig.
Roxas assured that the projects would undergo an open and transparent bidding process where all interested and qualified providers could participate.
Earlier, the DOTC announced that it is spending P111 million to renovate 46 LTO regional and district offices as well as licensing centers nationwide.
A total of P4 million would go to the planned extension of the Letas Building in LTO Central Office in East Ave, Quezon City, and P4 million would be used for the improvement of buildings and construction of records room to Quezon City Licensing Center and Quezon City District Office.
About P8.8 million was allocated for various renovation projects in Region 1 including Dagupan, Laoag, Batac and Vigan, while P9.9 million was earmarked for Region 2 such as Tuguegarao, Cabarroguis, Tuguegarao, Roxas, San Isidro, Ilagan and Aparri.
In the LTO Regional Office in San Fernando, Pampanga, P1.5 million will be spent for the backfilling and perimeter fence construction there, while another P5 million is set aside for the renovation of the San Pablo district and Laguna Licensing Office.
The DOTC is spending P39 million for LTO offices in Region 5 including Legaspi, Masbate, Naga, Daet, Iriga, Sorsogon, Tabaco, Ragay and Catanduanes and another P4 million for Region 7 covering Siquijor, Bais and Danao.
The LTO Regional Office in Iloilo and the district offices in Bacolod, Cadiz, San Jose, Calinog and Iloilo would also undergo building renovations costing a total of P6.5 million.
In Region 8, about P18.5 million will go to the repair and rehabilitation of LTO Tacloban, Borongan, Catarman, Calbayog, Catbalogan, Naval, Ormoc, Polompon and San Juan District Offices. Another P2 million will be spent for the repair and expansion of the LTO Dipolog District Office in Region 9.
