SMB may develop new products

Manila, Philippines -  Top Philippine brewer San Miguel Brewery Inc. (SMB) said it is exploring the possibility of developing new products and introducing more innovations to assert its market leadership and further increase appreciation for beer in the country.

SMB president Roberto N. Huang said that recent awards that its newer beer brands have received from the 2012 World Quality Selections of the Monde Selection International Quality Institute, have encouraged the company to consider introducing more new products.

“One of our programs this year is to explore and develop new products and packaging innovations so we can be ready to capitalize on market trends and tap new segments,” he said. 

“The Monde citations received by our newer beer brands, namely San Miguel Flavored Beers, San Miguel Premium All-Malt Beer, and even the seasonal San Miguel Oktoberfest Beer, only prove that every beer that we brew is strongly received not just by our consumers but also by the most discriminating beer connoisseurs in the world,”Huang explained.     

San Miguel Beer brands, led by the iconic San Miguel Pale Pilsen, are consistent winners in the annual Monde Selection International Quality Awards.

To date, the brewery boasts an impressive record that consists of three Crystal Prestige trophies, 16 International High Quality trophies, four grand golds, 115 golds and 80 silvers from the world’s most prestigious award-giving organization for beverages since the ‘60s.

“San Miguel Beer has been the celebratory drink of Filipinos since 1890. In the more than 120 years since, this San Miguel tradition of brewing excellence endures as we remain committed to the highest quality in all our processes-from choosing the finest raw materials, to beer manufacturing, to packaging, sales and distribution,” added Huang.

This year, Monde Gold Quality Awards were given to San Miguel Premium All-Malt, San Miguel Flavored Beer - Apple, San Miguel Super Dry, Red Horse Beer, San Miguel Oktoberfest Pale Pilsen Beer and Cerveza Negra. Cerveza Negra was also given an International High Quality Trophy for winning gold medals for three consecutive years. 

San Miguel Pale Pilsen, San Mig Light and San Miguel Flavored Beer-Lemon, meanwhile, won silver medals.
