IBM Phils to expand in Subic

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT, Philippines – The country’s top systems solutions provider IBM Philippines held a road show for locators here in Subic Bay economic zone and the rest of Central Luzon the other day to bring its expertise and technology solutions to clients outside Metro Manila.

Dubbed “IBM Comes to you (ICTY),” the roadshow aims to help create an action plan to “increase business value, solve tough inforrmation technology issues and enable transformation and growth in emerging market like Central Luzon.

“We recognize the increasing demands and challenges faced by businesses in the region. It is our commitment to work more closely and empower them to transform through innovation,” Christine Llanto, IBM Phils.market segment manager for IBM, told The STAR.

The ICTY roadshow series is part of the IBM Phils’ geographic expansion strategy to bring expertise and technology solutions to clients outside National Capital Region (NCR) areas at greater speed and efficiency.

“IBM Phils’ Smarter Computing strategy believes that it is the key to improving efficiency, saving money and doing more with less and have proven this by adopting it internally,” Llanto explained.

The IBM Phils’ Smarter computing strategy centers on leveraging analytics, optimizing systems designed for specific tasks and the use of cloud computing.

“There’s lot of activities in Subic Bay. There is a good mix of local and international companies here,” Llanto told reporters in a round table discussion held at the Lighthouse Marina Resort.

Among the growth areas identified by the firm were Cebu, Davao, Laguna and Region III.

In 2009, IBM deployed two teams of high-performing employees from various parts of the world to help different locators and local government units improve their services and experience cultural diversity.
