MANILA, Philippines - The Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corp. (HSBC) has announced the appointment of Jose Arnulfo “Wick” Veloso as head of global banking and markets for the Philippines, effective Aug. 15.
In his new role, Veloso will oversee both the global banking and global markets businesses, including continuing coverage for the public sector. He has been with global markets for 17 years and has been head of global markets for the Philippines since 2004. Veloso’s strong performance and track record in business development will contribute significantly to the growth of global banking and Markets in the country.
Based in Manila, he will report functionally to Tou Chen Chang, head of global banking for South East Asia and Monish Tahilramani, deputy head of global markets for Asia-Pacific, as well as locally to Tony Cripps.
Maria Corazon “Corrie” Purisima, as well as being head of debt capital markets (DCM) for the Philippines, will assume the role of head of client coverage for global banking in the Philippines, where she will have oversight of the client coverage business for private sector clients in the country.
Also based in Manila, Purisima will report directly to Veloso for her newly-added role in Global Banking while she will continue to report to Alexi Chan, Head of DCM Origination for Asia for her existing DCM portfolio.
